Lazy…

Posted by: Nick  /  Category: Daily Life

Well, here it is, a week after the big official new weigh-in, and our lazy asses never even did our weigh-in. We totally forgot to.

I seem to recall when we ate really well how excited we were to weight in…I am thinking there is a connection there.

I have noticed that my spam comments have reached an all time high, and I have made the decision to get rid of comments all together. You can send any words of encouragement to korthman@gmail.com.

Lets hope next week turns out less lazy then this week.

We are back! Time to get started!

We have been gone for too long, and my stomach is paying for it. Time to kick this mother in to high gear. Stay tuned for some crazy weight loss…well, lets hope :)

New Theme Found!

Posted by: Nick  /  Category: Daily Life

Well, it is official. The new look of TheKorths.com. I looked everywhere on the net for a theme that I could really like and I found it in this theme. It won’t be fully complete yet, but rest assured. It will look like a home hear soon enough. Thanks to those of you who still read.

Stay tuned for our first official weigh in tomorrow. It is going to be a big deal. This will be our new start.

It turns out…I can no longer eat fast food. I seem to get some kind of issue with my stomach when I eat McDonalds. I don’t know if it is divine intervention or if it’s just my own nerves and anger for eating McDonalds, but it has happened the last couple of times I have ate there. I am thinking it is a sign of some kind…a good sign.

Looking for a new format…

TheKorths.com is looking to do things a little differently, starting with the very new look of the site.
This site is designed using Wordpress, which has a lot of “free themes” out there. I am pretty good at finding them, but I am asking anyone that reads this blog to help us find a new theme that will work better with our content. I am looking at a 2 column blog (unless someone suggests a better one).

Starting July 14th, I am getting a new job and will have a very consistent schedule. With that being said, July 14th, we will be starting all over from scratch. We will be doing weekly weight-ins every Monday at 9pm. I thought that while having all weekends off, we may not be available on Fridays.

All the previous content will still exist, with some added content such as a video page, our favorite receipts and more.

I am also looking to post most of my meals again (I assume Mandy will do it too), since we have gotten out of control with our eating again. We have since taken a stand and even went so far as to literaly tossing bad food in the garbage.

So a lot of changes coming within the next few weeks.

Just an FYI, I have began a personal blog that is not on the basis of weight and health, but more entertainment driven on www.korthman.com - Check it out.

Some Fun Fiber Facts!

Fiber contributes to a healthy cardiovascular system by helping us maintain healthy cholesterol levels.   How does fiber work?  Simply put, it works like a sponge!  In the digestive system, soluble fiber absorbs water soluble fats like excess cholesterol, trapping it, and escorting it from the body in a healthy bowel movement.

Fiber also supports healthy blood sugar maintenance.  This is accomplished as fiber slows down carbohydrate conversion to sugar, promoting a stable blood sugar in the body.  This addresses our appetite, so we refrain from impulsively reaching for sugary snacks and high carbohydrate foods.

Fiber has also been shown to support digestive wellness through studies which connect high fiber diets to decreased incidence of colon disease, including Crohn’s, Colitis and even cancer.  This is generally associated with the consumption of insoluble forms of fiber, known as roughage.  Insoluble fiber works like a scrub brush or broom, sweeping waste from the walls of the intestine, promoting a healthy digestive environment.
